Happy Mother's Day

My mom is special to me because she has always been there for me. And now that she's a grandmother, or “Mummi”, she’s there for our kids. She has had some overwhelming obstacles in her life that she’s managed to overcome. One of the biggest was how to be a good mom without a role model. I can’t even imagine how hard it would be to lose your mom at such an early age. Although I think a lot of what my mom went through in her life has made her the solid person she is today with committed, strong values. She has life-long friends that have always been by her side, because they know too how great my mom is. She’s also a caring person that always wants to do the “right” thing no matter who it is. This is probably one of the reasons she went into nursing for her entire career. When she was working at the hospital, you could tell that Riitta was very well respected and a valuable asset to the hospital. To succeed in nursing you had to be smart, caring and have a strong work ethic – all of which made my mom a great nurse. I was proud of my mom for doing what she was doing and thought that she picked a great job. I am still proud of my mom and love her dearly. Now that I have kids of my own, I fully realize the sacrifices my mom made to be the best mom she knew how. I am very thankfully to still have my mom in my life and I am excited to have my kids know what a very special woman she is. I also love my mom because she’s a little whacky as well – you know she has to be a little crazy for putting up with my dad for all these years! But at her core, she’s a genuine person and I know that she loves me for who I am, unconditionally. And for this, I want to thank her… I want to thank her for all the birthday parties she gave us, for all the cookies she made us, for the stories she read and the times she let us go to the park so that I could ride the kiddie-train, over and over. She bandaged countless skinned knees, drove me miles and miles, to and from the mall, school games, the arcade, the practices and to friend’s houses. But most of all, I want to thank her for the amazing job she did of raising me to become the man I am today. I love you mom. Happy Mother’s Day.
Love, Kyle
